JES-PTO held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 6 at the F&M Building in Mound City. In attendance were President Brandy David, Vice-President Alica Wood, Treasurer Bonnie Riley, and Secretary Angela Holt. Also in attendance was Courtney Lanham.
In the treasurer’s report, Bonnie Riley stated that the PTO had $4,410.70 in checking and $8,202.99 in savings. She also noted that she had final numbers for the Dinner with Santa. The overall total raised was $1,795. After expenses of $664.14, the PTO made a profit of $1,130.86.
Bonnie also reported that PTO still needed to pay for field trips for Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade field trips. Cost for these will total around $800.
Spring Parent Teacher Conferences
Brandy David informed everyone that two local groups would be providing food for the upcoming conferences; PTO would not have to organize them.
The dance will be held on March 29 at the elementary school cafeteria, from 6:30—8p.m.
Discussion on acquiring a local DJ was had. Alica Wood will contact local individuals who DJ. Decorations will include balloons, crepe paper, etc., in spring colors. Alica has a fountain that can be used for the punch. Brandy will look into ordering fancy cookies to serve. PTO can begin decorating as early as 1:30 the afternoon of the dance.
Cost for the Father/Daughter Dance will be $5 per dad/grandfather/father figure, and the dance is open for any girl between Preschool and 6th Grade. Any grade school girl’s little sisters are also welcome.
The kickball tournament will be on April 20th at the ball fields. More details will be decided at the March and April meetings.
Teacher Appreciation Week
A discussion was held on what to get for teachers this year, as Teacher Appreciation Week is in early May. PTO will try and order planners for each. Everyone agreed to think of more ideas and share at the next two meetings.
The winter labels contest is currently in action. The last day to turn in labels is Friday, February 16th. The winning class will be announced the following week. Labels that are collected include: Best Choice (3 cents/label); Box Tops (10 cents/label); Tyson (24 cents/label); and Auburn Pharmacy caps (25 cents/label).
Money raised from the labels helps to support PTO with events throughout the school year.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 6th, at the F&M Building at 6:30 p.m.
