JES-PTO
April 3, 2018
Members of Jayhawk Elementary PTO met on Tuesday, April 3, with Brandy David, President, Bonnie Riley, Treasurer, and Angela Holt, Secretary, present. Also in attendance was Courtney Lanham.
Treasurer’s Report
Bonnie reported that there is currently $4,767.05 in checking, and $8,203.00 in savings.
Father/Daughter Dance
Approximately 100 dads attended, and almost 170 tickets for the photo booth were bought. Expenses totaled $679 for this event. Money brought in was $775. This is great news, as this was not expected to be a fundraiser.
For next year, it was suggested by Mr. Proffitt to hold the dance in the gym, so as to provide more room. PTO will also have a sign-up available so that there can be an estimate on numbers of people attending. There will also be two people at the door to make line go faster, and the dance may possible start at 7 p.m. next year.
Mother/Son Kickball
The Mother/Son Kickball will be on Friday, April 20, at the ballfields. Games will start at 6 p.m. Cost will be $5 per mom/aunt/grandmother. Moms and sons playing will receive a free hot dog, chips and drink. Angela will make a flier this week to send home, as well as two sign-up sheets, one for those participating in the games, and one for volunteers. Courtney volunteered to make signs for at the school and the ballfields.
Concessions will include candy, Gatorade, water, etc. There will be a sign-in sheet at the ballfield concession stand for players to sign-in upon arrival. Boys will be divided into K-2 and 3-6 grades. In case of bad weather, the games will be held in the elementary gym. The waiver has already been signed.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-11. Discussion was held over goody days and special tokens of appreciation. Food days will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. These will include salsa and chips; a breakfast/yogurt bar; and a finger-food day. Tuesday and Thursday will include one day for supply day, and another day will have succulents available for teachers and staff. Brandy will check for prices on the plants. Courtney will be making a special gift for teachers.
PTO is also planning on having students write their “thank yous” on Post-it notes to stick up for everyone to read.
Field Day
Field Day is planned for May 18. Brandy has ordered water balloons. Ideas are in the works for sack races, relay races, tug-of-war, obstacle course, etc.
Other Business
Cost for field trips for various classes was discussed. Bonnie will take care of the payments. PTO is also paying for the 6th grade class to go bowling at Iola at a cost of $5 per student.
With no other business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the F&M Building.
